Aim: To deepen your knowledge about the diversity at workplace and intercultural awareness in order to contribute to the creation of a good working atmosphere.
Description: Being a part of a team is important to understand that all people have different ways of communicating, understanding, learning and working, and these can be influenced by different aspects, for example: race, age, ethnicity, gender, educational level, socioeconomic status, mental and physical abilities, religious and political beliefs, etc. Diversity awareness and intercultural awareness are key factors for understanding of all these differences. These skills are more than needed at a workplace in order to respect your colleagues and contribute to a good working environment.
In order to become an equal team member in a diverse team it is also essential to increase your awareness of diversity, as it is a key element for tolerant and respectful working environment.
Additionally, avoiding stereotypes at workplace and reacting respectfully to other colleagues will contribute to the efficient implementation of your responsibilities and tasks.
Learning outcomes: Completing this exercise will enable you to:
- To understand and respect personal diversity such as: race, age, ethnicity, religious beliefs, etc.;
- To acquire some intercultural and gender awareness and to help others to get integrated into the working environment;
- To avoid all types of discrimination at a workplace.
