Importance of appropriate body language for being successful at labour market

Aim: To learn which body language is appropriate in different employment-related situations in order to be successful at nowadays labour market.

Description: Body language is often called “non-verbal communication” and it is very powerful tool helping to be successful in different life situations from relationships to career. The research shows that from 60% to 90% of communication is non-verbal therefore it is important to think about what your body is doing in different situations and use the most appropriate body language according to them. This skill is useful for the job interview as it could help you to succeed in getting the job you want. If you could effectively let your body do the talking during the conversations with your employer and your colleagues it would help you to create an image of attentive and competitive employee.
This exercise will help you to develop your ability to use appropriate body language in different employment-related situations.

Learning outcomes: Completing this exercise will enable you to:

  • Understand the meaning of body language and its possible benefits and consequences in employment-related situations;
  • Demonstrate positive physical communication, visual communication, non-verbal communication which supports the development of sustainable relationships. 

Expected duration: 10 minutes.
