Avoiding and recovering from most typical Job Interview mistakes

Aim: To develop the soft skills needed to avoid job interview mistakes and to improve your ability to recover from making job interview mistakes.

Description: Searching for a job is a journey and often job applicants make mistakes that result in not be selected for a job. It is important to know common job search mistakes that job applicants make, so that you can avoid them. During a job interview some unforeseen situation could appear, thus, it is important that you can adapt yourself quickly to the situation and behave accordingly. This exercise will help you to develop the soft skills necessary to be successful during a job interview like:

  • Able to demonstrate a good attitude;
  • Able to resolve conflicts and problems;
  • Adaptable.

After completing this exercise, you will be better prepared to avoid job interview mistakes and will improve your ability to recover from making job search mistakes.

Learning outcomes: Completion of this exercise will allow you to:

  • Demonstrate a positive working attitude during job interview;
  • Adapt to changing conditions;
  • Apply a problem solving approach and deal with difficult situations.

Expected duration: 20 minutes.

There are several situations proposed describing the most typical job interview mistakes. Please read the situations and choose the behaviour which in your point of view is correct, in order to avoid these Job search mistakes and demonstrate that you have the soft skills you need for that.
